Sem ki sabji | sem aloo ki sabji

Sem ki sabji is a simple stir fry recipe which can be made with fresh or frozen beans. It is rich in fiber and pairs well with both rice and roti.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm sem beans/phali / flat beans
  • 2 medium potatoes peeled,cubed
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp coriander powder / cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder / curry powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder optional
  • salt and red chili powder as per taste
  • Handful chopped cilantro leaves

Instructions

  • Wash and cut the beans, remove any fibrous strings.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds,chillies(optional). Add potatoes, cook for 3-4 minutes along with some salt.
  • Add the beans to the pan.
  • Add salt and mix the beans in the pan. Cover and Cook for 10-12 minutes on low flame.
  • Add chopped tomatoes. Cover and cook for further 10 minutes on low flame.
  • Add remaining spices and cook for 5 minutes. Turn off the gas. Garnish with fresh coriander.
